I used to take a bus from the State Capital in Salem, Oregon that ran to Mt. Jefferson -- 6:00 a.m. -- and when I arrived I got great lessons on how to ski. It's for beginners and it's close to Salem -- makes it a good place to start <3

The most under rated ski resort and location in the USA * Absolutely no development & nestled in the beautiful New England quaint village of Lee, Maine on Route 6 ** There is one nice diner at the Gas Station in the village. You can't miss it! *** This place is priceless and a truly undiscovered gem. Really its like a blast from the past. A hidden winter wonderland with a hollywood movie type setting
Time Capsule ski lodge from the 60's

Mt Jefferson is a small community hill located in the village of Lee, Maine. It is a classic throwback mountain with just a small lodge, a t-bar, and no snowmaking. For a small mountain, there is quite a bit of variety with about a dozen trails. Tickets are very cheap and affordable. Also has a very good view of Mt. Kahtadin on the Juniper Trail. All in all, I had a very good experience and will be back again at some point. If you are in the Bangor area and had the choice between here and Hermon, drive the extra time north to here. Just make sure you call ahead or check the snow report on this site since they rely solely on mother nature.
Cheap, No crowds, Great View of Kahtadin, Friendly People
Remote, Only open weekends, relies on Mother Nature
